Leadership TeamBuild It activities are coordinated by the Bonner Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) at the University of Richmond in conjunction with two important groups: the student Action Group and the Advisory Group comprising faculty and staff and representatives from the Build It community partner agencies. The Action Group is selected each fall through a competitive application process. Students in the Action Group learn about social issues in the community, volunteer weekly at one of the partner sites, and organize and publicize Build It activities. Members of the Build It Advisory Group also promote the project and provide expert guidance to the Action Group and other Build It participants. The Build It effort would not be possible without the committed leadership of the individuals serving on the Action Group and the Advisory Group. Members of the 2008-09 Action Group will be selected no later than Monday, September 8, 2008. Members of the 2008-09 Advisory Group include Sue Rockwell, Reach Out and Read Virginia; Anthony Allen, Hotchkiss Field Community Center; Jennifer Erkulwater, Political Science Department; Linda Evans, University Communications; Andy Gurka, Richmond College Dean's Office; Amy Howard, Bonner Center for Civic Engagement; Alease Johnson, Chandler Middle School; Avrell Young, University Facilities; Sherri Roccaforte, Youth Life Foundation of Richmond; Megan Rollins, Boaz & Ruth; Susan Stokes, Overby-Sheppard Elementary School. General questions about Build It or specific questions about the Action Group or the Advisory Group may be addressed to Cassie Price, CCE Community Initiatives and Program Manager, (804) 484-1609 or cprice@richmond.edu.
